HERCULES — November 4, 2026. Two city council seats were on the November 3 ballot in Hercules. Preliminary Contra Costa County returns list John Delgado at 4,030 votes (39.2%), followed by Dion Bailey at 3,596 (34.9%) and Preet Sidhu at 1,430 (13.9%). The full field includes other candidates, and voters could select more than one person.
A separate city sales tax measure
Hercules also voted on Measure P, a local sales tax question. The election-night Yes count stands at 3,385 votes (54.4%), against 2,833 No (45.5%). The question is separate from the council contests; a vote for a council candidate is not a vote for or against the tax.
What happens now?
The preliminary Yes majority is not yet a certified measure outcome, and the council vote totals can likewise change as additional eligible ballots are added. Local residents should follow updated county results for both the council seats and Measure P rather than treating the night-of count as final.
